This is the initial announcement for the Fifth Annual Ammonia Fuel Conference -- AF V. This year's meeting will be held in Minneapolis on Monday-Tuesday, September 29 - 30, and there will be a lab tour of the University of Minnesota wind-to-ammonia synthesis lab on Wednesday morning October 1. As in the past, we will have an excellent technical agenda covering all areas of ammonia as a fuel.
Meeting Organizers --
John Holbrook, AmmPower, 509-396-2082, john.holbrook@charter.net
Norm Olson, Iowa Energy Center, 515-382-1774, nolson@iastate.edu
Mike Reese, Univ Minnesota-West Central Research and Outreach Center, 320-589-1711, reesem@morris.umn.edu
Meeting Location and Accomodations -- We have an excellent location lined up for AF V. The conference will be held at the McNamara Alumni Center on the UM campus. http://www.alumnicenter.umn.edu/events/johnson-3.html . We have arranged for a block of rooms at the nearby Radisson Hotel. http://www.radisson.com/hotels/universi , which is easy walking distance to the meeting location. There is shuttle service from the hotel to the light rail system, which will then take you to the airport. A number of other hotels are also conveniently located nearby. We will supply a list in an upcoming meeting reminder.
Registration -- Unlike last year, there will be no registration fee for AF V. The Iowa Energy Center has graciously covered the cost of the meeting facility. However, no registration fee does mean that you will be on your own for lunches. Registration is mandatory, however, in order for us to know who, and how many, folks will be participating. Registration is open as of your receipt of this email. You can register by calling Patty Prouty or Julie Charlson at 515-294-8819 or on-line at (TBD).
Call for Papers -- If you would like to present a paper at AF V, please submit a title and half-page abstract to John Holbrook by June 30. The emphasis of the paper should be on some aspect of ammonia as a fuel -- NH3 production, storage, distribution, safety, and end uses. The presentations will be 25 minutes in length with 5 minutes Q&A.
AFN Web Site -- Look for the new Ammonia Fuel Network web site near the end of May at www.ammoniafuelnetwork.org . And, once it's up and running, make sure to use it to spread the word about ammonia as an outstanding carbon-free fuel.
Best Regards.
John, Norm and Mike
